You need a car from Chicago to Detroit. I gave you mine and you took off the wheels. You said that the body of the vehicle is not as important as the wheels because the wheel is what makes the vehicle move. How in the world do you plan to make it to Detroit on the wheels? The Church is the vehicle that God provided to take you from earth to your heavenly destination. Jesus is the one that makes the vehicle (Church) move and He also knows how to get to the Father (John 14:1-6).
Here are my top reasons why you really need His Church and the seventh one is a no brainer. You need the Church because:
1. It takes more than one person to "speak to one another" in songs (Colossians 3:16). Using the words from your lips (Hebrews 13:15) with the heart as the instrument (Ephesians 5:19); together, the sacrifice of praise is offered to God.
2. It takes more than one spiritual brick to build a spiritual temple where worship "in the spirit" takes place (John 4:24; 1 Corinthians 6:17) because the physical building is not the Church.
3. It takes more than one person to "encourage one another" as we await the Lord's return (Hebrews 10:25).
4. It takes more than one person to "fellowship" or commune (Acts 2:42; 20:7) and "each one of you" in 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 means more than one person.
5. It takes two or more Christians to be gathered together in God's name (Matthew 18:20) for Him to be present.
6. It takes more than one person to "salute one another" with a holy kiss (Romans 16:16). Unless you can wave to yourself, self-handshake, self-hug and self-kiss your cheek. This would be awkward.
7. No-brainer: You accept Jesus the way He wants to be accepted(Acts 2:40-41) and God adds you to His Church(Acts 2:47), are you really going to say NO? I hope not.
Stop saying: "I don't need a Church. All I need is Jesus." This statement is only true if you believe that a "church" is a building. But if you know and believe that the Church that Jesus promised in Matthew 16:18 is made up of people like you, then it will be wrong to make such a statement. It sounds like you are trying to chop His head off from His body - Be nice my friends. You know that Jesus is the head of His body, which he also called His Church (Colossians 1:18:). The Church is like Noah's ark (1 Peter 3:20-21) - get in, if you value your salvation. I'm not asking you to go join any group of people in the name of finding a church. Be careful and find the bible Church in both name and doctrine. The church is made up of more than one Christian because it takes two or more. Don't sabotage your own spiritual journey by separating Jesus from His Church. This world is not our home (Hebrews 13:14) so get on board and let's go home.
